If you like using Basecamp you should check out Huddle - it's far easier to use and allows you to work on multiple projects from one single dashboard. When you're working with multiple clients and suppliers on loads of different projects this makes life much simpler!

[...] Instead, it was mostly a review of the community aspects of that site and an attempt to explain its appeal. You’ve seen me take a look (twice) at what I think makes a site like Metafilter work and a site like Yahoo! Answers fail.

I am one of those people who likes to keep things simple, In fact, I have thought about starting a company that sells only simple things like a telephone that just allows one to make a telephone call without needing to read the directions which are always confusing. Electronics brought in the complicity of gadgets. VCRs and CD players should be made easy to operate intuitively. I find that I admire well-designed equipment that is functional and attractive. Even non-electronic equipment that is beautiful and functional catches my eye. I have a digging fork for my garden that is both a work of art and is highly functional in turning over soil.
